Nel 1986 inizia una strada difficile per i Floyd che decideranno di lottare per il continuo, non tennero ovviamente concerti, show, apparizzioni o qualcos'altro del genere, chiusi in silenzio per rispondere alle ormai decisioni di chiusura di Roger Waters.

Esce "When The Wind Blows", una colonna sonora del film con disegni animati da Jimmy Murakaimi.
Sempre vicino a quel periodo, si riunisce la PF Music Limited che operava ed opera nei movimenti finanziari della band, per aprire un nuovo conto corrente per un nuovo progetto, Roger Waters venuto a sapere di questo movimento, prende la decisione per una battaglia legale per non far usare il marchio Pink Floyd ai tre membri - Gilmour, Mason, Wright.

Autunno 1986
La battaglia legale come ben sappiamo porterà a Gilmour & Co. all'utilizzo del marchio PF, iniziano così le prove per un nuovo progetto, un nuovo album.
